Steve,

I think we're in very good shape for getting this prototyped in
time. Cadence has preliminary implementations for BuildGates and
Pearl, and IBM is making good progress on a related translator that
will be adapted for the demo.

Mentor (Exemplar) has just decided that they are interested in
participating, so the deadline is tighter for them. Synplicity
and Actel are still considering and will decide by the end of
April (Synplicity has noted that they will not be able to support
the full subset if they do participate).

Synopsys has indicated that they will not participate directly,
but they don't see any problem with demonstrating translators
between DCDL and the Synopsys design constraints format, if
the translator is developed by a company licensed under the
TAP-in program. Cadence is considering whether there is enough
time to do this.

Lynn Horobin from OVI is the shared standards booth coordinator,
and I expect that she'll be handling most of the publicity and
marketing; we'll be talking about this next week.

I think that the biggest contribution VI could make would be
to complete the process we've discussed earlier of having VI
formally endorse the DC-WG effort. This seems particularly
appropriate given the recent move of SLDL under VI. It would
be great if we could coordinate a VI press release about this
with the other press activities that OVI and VSI will drive.

Thanks,
Mark
