Folks, I've traced some history behind IR1001. I recall that some of the outstanding IRs from VHDL-87 (those < 1000) were brought forward as VHDL-93 IRs and given numbers 1000+. IR1001 is exactly the same as IR0048, and IR0048 is marked as being superceded by IR1001. So we can cross IR0048 off our list should we ever get to it! IR0048 (and hence IR1001) is addressed by VHDL-93 LCS-0045. It specifies inclusion of text in 5.2.2 describing the visible entity declaration and specifying when the visibility checks are performed. The text was included in VHDL-93. Hence IR1001 can be closed. Cheers, PA -- Dr. Peter J. Ashenden peter@ashenden.com.au Ashenden Designs Pty.
