Congratulations to everyone on getting the SCE-MI 1.0 approved.
It is good to see that so many people and companies are eager to contribute
to the success of a follow on to sce-mi. It seems to me that the best way
to proceed would be for the committee to have a look at all of the possible
donations and then decide on how to move forward. Working from a donation
is, quite wisely, the way that Accellera has chosen to operate and I think
that we should continue with that. At this point, we do not understand
which of the donations are complementary or competing to each other and the
existing standard. This needs to be understood before we can decide on
how to move forward. I believe that the "first-to-donate" option is
untenable, as is the design by committee option. The "pick-one-as-a-base"
is only reasonable if all donations are competing. In addition, all
donations should be evaluated against the criteria of being backwards
compatible to sce-mi 1.0 and being mergeable with the SV DPI standard.
