This is my recollection as well.

Mentor is willing to entertain the idea - just not
for this draft.

Right now we see there is not enough industry interoperability
of calling time consuming export DPI tasks from
SystemC to warrant adding this to the spec.

That will probably change over time so it should
certainly be revisited in future drafts.

I think we did for the first 2.0 draft.  That is, we deferred tasks
for later consideration.  For 2.1 it was requested by Cadence, I
think, that we add non-time consuming tasks.  The ultimate goal would
be to also support time consuming tasks, but neither Cadence nor
Mentor was willing to entertain that idea.
