IMO the lack of integration is probably stopping adoption as much as
anything else.
The original goal was to create a single (Verilog) language that covers
analog and digital
so that analog and digital designers can use the same tool sets easily
and large mixed
signal designs can be described in one consistent piece. That won't
happen if folks
keep working on things other than integration.
