AMS added a "string parameter" as part of the compact modeling
extensions.  It was noted that this is different from the "reg
as a string" used by 1364.  The intent was that this would
require the type (string) to be part of the parameter 
declaration, to make it easier to set up data storage.  But
it may be too difficult to make this restriction, in terms of
trying to word it clearly for the LRM, and it may not be
that important for the simulator.
