Marq,
Yes that is what I am suggesting.
 
However particularly in the case of;
initial $display("Value is %b.", system.inst.net);

Some form of automatic casting is also desirable so that users don't
have to change pure-digital test benches to do AMS simulations.
 
so that if system.inst.net becomes an analog net, that this reference is
automatically cast to the default discrete discipline in order to have
an IE inserted.
