VHDL INTERNATIONAL TO HOST SILICON VALLEY VITAL WORKSHOP
Will Cover Revisions, Enhancements in VITAL-1999-2000

BOULDER, Colo. -- October 4, 1999 -- VHDL International (VI) will sponsor a
workshop on the VHDL Initiative Toward ASIC Libraries- (VITAL) 1999/2000, a
revision to the VITAL-1995 standard, Friday, October 15, at LSI Logic
Corporation in Milpitas, Calif., from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The workshop will be taught by members of the IEEE 1076.4 VITAL Technical
Action Group (TAG) and other developers of the latest version of the
standard. It is meant for VHDL-based designers, application specific
integrated circuit (ASIC) and field programmable gate array (FPGA) vendors
and simulation technology developers that support VITAL.

A similar workshop will be held in Japan later this month.

"In an era of deep submicron design where new standards are developing
daily, VITAL is one of the most successful," says Dennis Brophy, VITAL TAG
chair and director of Strategic Business Development at Model Technology.
"It has been widely adopted by designers and the ASIC vendor community at
large."

VITAL-1999/2000 will be formally released later this year and will include
modeling enhancements, including standardized ASIC memory models; support
for IEEE 1076-93 standard and IEEE P1497 (SDF 4.0) standards; and
multi-source interconnect timing simulation. It was developed with
contributions from LSI Logic, Motorola, Texas Instruments, American
Microsystems Inc., Mentor Graphics, Model Technology, Cadence Design Systems
and Synopsys.

The workshop is free, though space is limited. To register, send email to
Brophy at dennisb@model.com by Friday, October 8.
