SUBJECT: VITAL 2000 Ballot Package
Dear Colleague:
By now you have received your IEEE P1076.4 (VITAL-2000) ballot package from
the IEEE. Included in this package is a cover letter from Victor Berman,
chair of the IEEE 1076.4 Timing Working Group, a ballot form to return to
the IEEE and the IEEE P1076.4 Draft 1 of the VITAL-2000 specification.
For those who may still be waiting for their ballot package and to assist
you in your review of the specification, you can access an electronic copy
of the specification at the following address:
http://www.eda.org/pub/vital/ballot/IEEE-1076.4-D1.pdf
NOTE: A password is required to open the specification.
The password will be sent to all ballot group
members. If you have not received this password,
please contact dennisb@eda.org.
If you would like to execute the code, you will find .Z and .gz compressed
files of the primitives, timing and memory packages. They can be found at
the following locations:
http://www.eda.org/pub/vital/ballot/vital2000src.tar.Z
http://www.eda.org/pub/vital/ballot/vital2000src.tar.gz
The packages are open to anyone interested to test and use the ballot
package code. If you have any issues using the packages, please contact the
VITAL Technical Action Group (TAG) at vital-tag@eda.org.
The ballot packages were mailed to you on or about April 27, 2000. The
ballot period ends on June 6, 2000. You must return by mail your ballot on
or before this date. (Non continental Unites States members of the ballot
group may fax their ballot to the IEEE.) We understand that the ballot end
date overlaps with the Design Automation Conference. VITAL TAG
representatives will be at the conference and will be available to meet the
morning of June 5th in the event you have additional questions we can
answer. (We will be at the EDA Standards/Interoperability booth Monday
morning and will offer courier service to the IEEE for any ballots you may
wish to bring with you - if you want to withhold your vote until after you
have spoken with us.)
As you recall in the invitation to join the ballot group, we shared with you
the demands of the IEEE ballot are high. In order for a ballot to be
successful, 75% of all ballots must be returned. Over the coming weeks, we
will continue the conversation with you regarding the number of ballots
which have been returned in order to ensure we exceed the 75% return rate.
The VITAL TAG has made some major additions and enhancements to the last
version of the standard. We have held several workshops in North America,
Japan and Europe over the past few years to share these developments with
the community. However, as you begin to review the specification, we
suspect you may have questions. Please direct your questions to the VITAL
TAG at vital-tag@eda.org.
One last note, I would like to thank each of the balloters for your work to
review the specification. The review of IEEE specifications is done on a
voluntary basis and I want to ensure you that we recognize your contribution
to this effort.
Best regards,
Dennis Brophy
