XC6200 Inspector

What is Inspector?

Inspector is a debugger for the XC6200DS. It is a Windows program which allows you to test your designs directly on the XC6200 device without the need for a C/C++ control program. A  user-friendly GUI and simple command scripting allow you to quickly verify your design.

Capture your design in VHDL or schematic form and generate an EDIF netlist. Use XACT6000 to place and route it before exporting a symbol table and configuration file. These files contain everything Inspector needs to probe and reconfigure your design.

Load your design with XC6200 Inspector. Test it in the same way as you would use a software simulator such as ViewSim^TM. Select which circuit elements are to be traced, group them together and assign values. Clock the design and trace results in a text log or a VCD compatible waveform viewer, such as ViewTrace^TM. The XC6200 FastMAP^TM interface makes it possible to observe all internal design activity.

Tests can be run hundreds of times faster than on a software simulator. The design operates on real hardware, so you can be certain of real behaviour, unlike simulation. Another feature of XC6200 Inspector is its ability to reconfigure your design on the chip during a test run - something not possible with conventional simulation tools.
