Overview
ARC Cores provides the world's first 32-bit microprocessor that is user-configurable,
process-independent, and can quickly and easily be personalized for a customer's
specific applications. ARC is the first 32-bit processor that allows the
system-on-chip designer to configure and extend the capabilities of the
processor, including custom instructions, registers, condition codes, and
datapaths. It is a revolutionary product that has a variety of advantages
over conventional microprocessor or DSP macros.
ARC Cores provides the fastest design solution for embedded processor-based
designs. The 32-bit ARC core is provided as a synthesizable source code
with a suite of development tools for core configuration and hardware-software
co-design. Configuration is easy by using ARChitect, a point-and-click
tool that allows users to configure the core instruction set, register
file, bus interfaces, and state machines. In a simple point-and-click process,
the designer selects from a library of instruction extensions, cache configurations,
debug options, and peripherals. The ARC processor is the first core IP
designed to be customized, optimized and seamlessly integrated into an
entire system, reducing design time, silicon costs, and technical challenges.
