M1.5i/2.1i: How to obtain timing information from new speedfiles: Speedprint utility

Record #6067

Problem Title:
M1.5i/2.1i: How to obtain timing information from new speedfiles: Speedprint utility

Problem Description:
Urgency: Standard

General Description: A utility exists that allows a user to find out
the latest speed data for a device and speed grade that supersedes
information found in the datasheet. This utility is called speedprint
and is invoked form the command line or DOS prompt.

Solution 1:

Usage: speedprint [-s <sgrade>] [-min]	[-t <temp>] [-v <volts>] <device>

-s <sgrade> Desired speed grade, or default
-min Report on minimum speed data
-t <temp> Junction temperature of device
  -v <volts> Supply voltage

For more information please consult Chapter 15 (2.1i) of the
Development System Reference Guide.

Also refer to (Xilinx Solution #4506) for information on obtaining this data
from TRACE and Timing Analyzer.

Solution 2:

When running the speedprint utility in order to get device timing information,
the -s option does not seem to work. Speedprint seems to only display
information on the fastest device.

This has been fixed in Service Pack 1 for 2.1i.

Solution 3:

SPEEDPRINT is a command-line application which writes out selected
information from any speed file. To get the data for an xcs40XL in a -5
speedgrade, type the following at a dos prompt:

speedprint -s 5 xcs40xl

You can look at the various switches (there's only 4), by typing:

speedprint -h
