Second Edition CORE Solutions Data Book With Seven New AllianceCORE Products

The new, expanded edition of the CORE Solutions Data Book is available. Over 45 products from both Xilinx and our AllianceCORE partners have been added since the first edition, published in May of 1997.

Highlights of these new products include:

Version 2.0 of the LogiCORE PCI interface that achieves fully compliant, zero wait-state operation for 132 MBps sustained burst bandwidth.
LogiCORE and AllianceCORE products that support the new Spartan family of low-cost, ASIC-replacement FPGAs.
Communications and networking products, including ATM, HDLC and T1 Framer cores.
Complete RISC Processor solutions, including Xilinx-based prototyping boards and development software.

New AllianceCORE Products
Available for the first time are seven new products from five AllianceCORE partners. The products include predefined communications, RISC processor and processor peripheral cores for use in Xilinx FPGAs, and board-level evaluation tools for prototyping FPGA-based system designs. Datasheets for each product are in the new CORE Solutions data book.

V8-uRISC 8-Bit RISC Processor
IntelliCore™ Prototyping System
The V8 processor is a proprietary RISC architecture designed specifically for Xilinx FPGAs. The IntelliCore™ prototyping system includes four Xilinx XC4000 FPGAs, and can be used to hardware test the V8 plus other VAutomation cores in target Xilinx devices. All are available from VAutomation, Inc. List pricing is $9950 for the V8 in Xilinx netlist format, and $1495 for the IntelliCore system.

VAutomation IntelliCore™ Prototyping System

High-level Data Link Controller (HDLC)
The HDLC core is a high performance communications core that can be configured for single or switched parallel channels. It is available from Integrated Silicon Systems Ltd. ISS customizes and delivers the core for use in telecommunications applications such as X.25, ISDN and Frame Relay. List pricing for Xilinx netlists start at $15,000.

T1 Framer
M8237 Direct Memory Access (DMA) Controller
The T1 Framer is used in telecommunications equipment such as telephone switches and network routers. The M8237 is common in embedded microprocessor-based systems. Both are available from Virtual IP Group, Inc. Xilinx netlists for the T1 and M8237 cores list for $6000 and $2250, respectively.

XF9128 Video Terminal Logic Controller
The XF9128 core is a programmable video display interface controller for use in ASCII display terminals and is software and function compatible with the obsolete industry standard CRT 9128. It is available from Memec Design Services with a list price of $5000.

AllianceCORE Evaluation Card
This board allows designers to quickly evaluate the functionality of NMI (or customer-developed) memory controller and processor peripheral cores in Xilinx XC4000 and XC9500 programmable logic devices. Available from NMI Electronics Ltd. List price, depending on configuration, starts at: $5800.
