Dear members of the DCWG,
OVI supports open and publicly owned standard. The "normal" process we
have put together with the OVI is the following :
1- Company donating strawman should sign a standard release letter that OVI
support.
2- I have sent this letter to IBM and Ambit, prior to the working group start
working on the strawman. Ambit was willing to sign it until cadence acquired
Ambit. Cadence has examined OVI release, and offered their own version of a
release letter.
3- If the working group wants to continue with the Ambit/Cadence donation, and
understand the ramification of Cadence letter, then the working group need to
recommend to me (OVI board) to negotiate with Cadence as a special case.
4- If IBM is willing to sign the OVI release letter, then the working group can
look at IBM donation as an alternative. If IBM wants changes in the letter, then
we can adjust it with the OVI board blessing.
Until the release letter is signed, I suggest that you should treat the
strawman as proprietary material. We should this matter in our planned meeting.
Mark can send you a copy of the Cadence release letter.
Best Regards
