Concepts

The SCE-API interface is unlike most of the previous simulator/emulator interfaces in that it not only couples multiple execution vehicles, but also allows models of different levels of abstraction to talk to each other. While the initial need for this was to speed up interfaces into emulators, the concepts are equally applicable to all kinds of model execution .

The Modeling Interface is a message passing interface designed with system level communication in mind :

  • C/System Design vs HDL
  • System Transactions vs Pin Events
  • Wide
  • Simple terminals
  • Multiple channels
  • Designed for low latency and high bandwidth
  • Up to full emulation speeds (1MHz+)
  • Based on IKOS ‘Co-Modeling’ technology

Bridges high-abstraction models to models with implementation detail

  • ‘Untimed’ to ‘Timed’
  • Reduces communications overhead between models
  • Optimized for system-level transactions
