Interfaces Technical Committee

History

This group was originally formed as the Standard Co-Emulation API (SCE-API) Consortium in June 2000. It was a group of EDA customers and EDA vendors dedicated to the creation of a high-performance common emulation API. The founding members were Aptix, CoWare, IKOS Systems, Mentor Graphics, STMicroelectronics, Synopsys, and TransEDA.

In November 2000, the first specification draft for a modeling interface was created. A public announcement of the SCE-API was made in April 2001 and the SCE-AP(MI) 1.0 was posted on the OSCI open source web site.

October 2001, This group merged into Accellera for the continuance of its work, and a broadening of its charter to look at all kinds of interfaces.

May 2003, the SCE-API Modeling Interface 1.0 was approved as an Accellera standard.

The 1.1 version of the specification was released by Accellera on April 14th 2005. This version of the specification dealt with a number of compatibility issues that surfaced when multiple comapnies attempted to implement the specification and users identified problems with portability of models between different implementations.

The group is currently working on a 2.0 version of the specification, which will address a number of usability issues with the goal of making it easier to migrate models between simulations and accellerated verification environments. The group plans to complete this work by the end of 2005 which would result in the release of the standard in April or May of 2006.
