All,
I am writing to you because I understand you have an interest in
extending AMS languages to support one or more of the following new areas:
1. Compact device modeling
2. RF circuits and systems
3. MEMS
or that you are interested in identifying ways that these languages can
be improved to better support their existing application areas.

I wanted to make you aware of a special emphasis that BMAS is putting on
discussing extensions to AMS languages this year. BMAS is short for the
IEEE International Workshop on Behavioral Modeling and Simulation
(www.bmas-conf.org). It will be held at the Hayes Mansion in San Jose on
October 7th and 8th. I am the program chair for BMAS, and I am trying to
focus the second day of the workshop on AMS extensions. We are currently
planning the following special events for Wednesday, Oct. 8th.

1. Tutorial presentation on MEMS modeling by Gary Fedder of CMU.
2. Invited paper on proposed extensions to Verilog-A to support
    compact modeling.
3. Panel session on using standard modeling languages for
    compact modeling.
4. I also hope to have an invited paper on the modeling requirements
    associated with RF design.

BMAS accepts papers and we are hoping to get papers in these areas. The
paper submission deadline is July 11, 2003. I encourage you to consider
attending BMAS this year, and also encourage you to consider submitting
a paper in these areas.

The first day of the conference, should also be very interesting. The
focus will be on exploring macromodeling, or automatic model extraction.
There will be interesting invited papers on this topic from Joel
Phillips of Cadence and Jaijeet Roychowdhury of University of Minnesota.
In addition, Rob Rutenbar of CMU will be giving the keynote address.

This is in addition to the normal papers on the applications of
behavioral modeling languages.

I hope to see you all at the workshop. I think you will find it both
interesting and informative.

-Ken
