The Xilinx Alliance Series is for users who want powerful design implementation tools that integrate into their existing EDA environments and methodologies. With this series, designers can choose from wide range of design techniques including schematic capture, synthesis and PLD-based design from over 50 EDA vendors. With standards based design interfaces including, EDIF, ABEL, Verilog and VHDL this series provides maximum flexibility, portability and design reuse. 

EDA vendors are supported through the Xilinx Alliance. This program enables the vendors to work closely with Xilinx to insure tool compatibility and high quality results. Advanced integration with leading vendors such as VIEWlogic provide tightly coupled environments that make it easy to move through the design process. 

The Xilinx System Level Integration (SLI) Series provides software products and technologies that enable designers to build complex, system-level applications with programmable logic. 

Xilinx LogiCore Solutions, the first set of products in this series, are high level functions that a designer can integrate into FPGA designs. LogiCore Solutions include fully verified and pre-implemented cores sold and supported Xilinx as well as Alliance Cores provided by more than 13 third party partners. 

These solutions help system designers meet the need for faster time-to-market by dramatically cutting development time and design risk. The initial set of LogiCore modules include fully compliant PCI interfaces. Future LogiCore products will include modules for DSP, telecommunications and other complex logic applications

Product Conversion and Upgrade Guide

 
Due to the shift in the business strategy, VIEWlogic is now supporting the BAS and EXT packages previously offered by Xilinx. With the Alliance Series 1.3 (A1.3) release, customers under maintenance received their last software upgrade of the VIEWlogic's WVO design entry tools from Xilinx. Future upgrades of WVO will come directly from VIEWlogic, while Xilinx will continue to ship the implementation tools. Additionally, Xilinx has unbundled the design entry tools from the implementation tools, therefore resulting in a part number for the VIEWlogic WVO entry tools and one for the Alliance implementation tools. Below is a conversion guide indicating the part numbers referenced by the XACTStep 6.01 software and the matching part numbers for the latest Alliance Series release 1.3. With the new release, part numbers for listed for both the VIEWLogic WVO product and the Xilinx implementation tools.

For example an existing customer under maintenance having the DS-VLS-BAS-PC1 package will receive the Alliance Base package (DS-ALI-BAS-PC) along with VIEWlogic's WVO 7.31 which is DO-ALI-WVB-PC. The Alliance Base (DS-ALI-BAS-PC) package includes CPLD support, FPGA device support up to 8,000 gates, libraries and interfaces, LogiBLOX and implementation software. The Alliance Standard includes everything listed above with device support for all CPLDs and FPGAs.
