Extraction of I/O power consumption

To extract I/O power consumption:

1. In the Domains tab, set all clock and data frequencies to zero.

You can check in the Dynamic tab that your total power is zero at this level.

2. In the Activity tab, use the provided filters to select input and output pins of the design. Annotate these pins with the average input and output frequencies. For details, refer to Switching Activities Annotation Area section in the Activity tab.

In the Dynamic tab, the dynamic power displayed is the power consumption of your I/O pins.

You can do an advanced analysis by setting a specific frequency for each input/output. You can also analyze the impact of output load.
