The REL-32 Relay output adapter provides four banks of eight switched Reed relays. The cards DB-37 connector brings out the A-side of all relays while the optional B-side connector brings out the B-side and commons of all relays to a second DB-37 connector. This allows access to both sides of all 32 switches. For increased flexibility, an onboard jumper header allows the user to create any custom switch interconnection wiring desired. The REL-32 can easily be configured as 32 independent relays, or as a 4x8, 2x16 or 1x32 matrix switch. The cable is only necessary if you want the 32 independent relay option.
Switching Relays
Reed relays provide high quality, long life, low current (10 Watt maximum) dry contact switch closures Reed relays are suited for low current (primarily resistive load) applications. The relays are normally open, and close when energized. Each relay can be individually energized by writing a 1 to the proper port bit, and opened by writing a 0. The relays power up reset in the open state. For your reference, we have provided a sample wiring diagram for a reed relay output circuit.
Our SeaI/O Family of Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP and Linux Software drivers is included along with sample applications and utilities for rapid application development.
