HiperLAN Alliance:
HiperLAN (High Performance European Radio LAN) Alliance
is supported by ETSI HiperLAN. The technology supported will have
a bandwidth of 23.529 Mbps and have a transmission band: 5.15 -
5.25 GHz spectrum. Its support for multi-hop routing, time-bounded
services and power saving features are expected. Some of the key
members are Apple, Hewlett Packard, Harris Semiconductor, IBM, Nokia,
Proxim, Intermec, and STMicroelectronics.
The mission of the HIPERLAN Alliance is to accelerate
the worldwide deployment of HIPERLAN/1 systems through increased
market awareness, developer cooperation and user education.
HiperLAN2 Global Forum:
HiperLAN/2 Global
Forum (H2GF) is an open industry forum, supporting broadband
wireless LAN solutions offering data rates up to 54 Mbps, using
the 5GHz spectrum, OFDM physical layer technology. Our mission is
to: Drive the adoption of HiperLAN2 as the global broadband wireless
technology in 5 GHz band, providing untethered connectivity for
mobile devices in corporate, public and home environments.
The HiperLAN2 Global Forum was launched in September
1999 supported by six founding members, Bosch, Dell, Ericsson, Nokia,
Telia and Texas Instruments. Other key members include Alcatel,
Cambridge Silicon Radio, Canon, Lucent, Intersil, Panasonic, Mitsubishi,
Motorola, National Semiconductor, NTT, Philips, Samsung, Siemens,
Sony, Silicon Wave, Toshiba and Xilinx.
