| Low power covers a complete range of applications from cellular phones
to Energy Star appliances (Green PC). The large range of low power
applications is do to several factors.
One driver is from the aggressive design goals for lower power than the previous project but additional functionality and features. Xilinx at Work: Low Power helps the designer bring his system power back to the initial power goals level while allowing additional feature and functionality. Another driver for low power is smaller form factors of portable applications and associated total product cost. Thus, the elimination of expensive heat sinks and fans, and reduced heat dissipation are mandatory for portable communicating, computing and hand held instruments.
