Moore’s Law: Device Capacity Doubles For The Same Price (Every 18 Months)

Transistors are the raw material of DSP. As accurately predicted by
Roger Moore, the number of transistor that can be integrated on a single
IC device has doubled every 18 months over the last 10 years. And every
indication is that this trend will continue. The increase in clock speed
that comes with smaller geometry process technology also adds the the overall
DSP performance.
The abundant amounts of transistor and more metal interconnect resources
make the new generation of FPGAs possible.
