Minutes of 01/12/04 SV-CC Special Meeting.

ATTENDEES

. Ghassan Khoory
. Joao Geada
. Avinash Mani
. Francoise Martinolle
. Ralph Duncan
. Bassam Tabbara

A. VPI READER DISCUSSION

1. Bassam and Francoise discussed the merits of
. Having single read interfaces, such as vpi_goto, perform multiple
functions, rather than using multiple vpi functions (e.g.,
vpi_goto,
vpi_control) to each provide a subset of that functionality.
. Utilizing a specific type for traversing collections.
2. Joao, Bassam and Fraincoise discussed implications of accessing
database objects when only a portion of a simulation variable is
   present in the DB:
.. Whether this triggers the Reader obtaining the rest of the data or
whether the reader simply displays the portion of the data (i.e.,
the bits) that it does have.
.. There was general agreement that having the reader display only
what it has loaded is superior to having it obtain the rest of the
data or using an additional bit to indicate whether a value is
valid.

B. VPI ANNOTATION DISCUSSION

Joao summarized major changes to
. relate scopes to symbols obtained from packages via import clauses,
. the variable diagram and its relation to diagrams for registers, et
al.,
