Hi Swapnajit,

Thanks for the plan of action on our committee's errata.

I want to draw attention to bug #000005 in the database
regarding representation of packed vectors in aval/bval
PLI-compatible format.

The bug database contains a brief description of the issue.
Further, it states that we should simply strike the sentence
that leads the reader to believe that DPI has data
representation compatible with PLI. Finally, the bug
database says the SV-CC committee agrees to this solution.

However, this is rather inaccurate. We agreed to the solution
only temporarily as a last minute remedy before publishing
the final SV3.1a standard. But, the real issue remains open.

Cadence, Mentor, and Motorola all indicated strong
support for changing the data representation of packed
vectors to be compatible with PLI's aval/bval scheme.
The problem was that this item was caught too late
to be debated for inclusion in the 3.1a standard.

I would like to see these facts accurately reflected
in the bug database, so that the IEEE knows what the
real issue is and can deal with it fairly.

Thanks and regards,
Doug
