1. Reviewed Patent information.
- Charles Dawson read the patent information.
2. Reviewed minutes of the 9/15/04 Meeting.
- Joao moves that we accept the minutes.
Ralph seconds. No opposed. No abstentions Passed.
3. Liaisons
- Chas reported on the PTF activities. PTF will be working
on errata for 1364 going forward, as directed by 1800.
They are also interested in two large changes:
- deprecating the PLI 1.0 sections
- converting diagrams to UML
The second item generated some discussion on whether we
wanted to do the same for the systemVerilog VPI sections.
Joao expressed concern about the printability of the
diagrams generated by Rational Rose. Francoise reported
that Peter Ashenden had resolved the printing issue for
VHPI. Francoise took an action to find out what was done
for VHPI. JimV questioned whether the IEEE would allow
vendors to ship the UML, or would the vendors need to
pay royalties. Francoise to research.
4. New business
- Francoise questioned how we would interact with the database,
and what the values for the different fields meant. After
a lengthy discussion, Chas took an action to ask Karen to:
- write up a process from initial entry of an issue to final
resolution, detailing the various states that a issue can
be in and how to transition from one to another.
In the mean time, we decided that proposals should be added
as a separate bugnote that begins with a "Proposal:" line.
- Chas noted that due to the agenda being sent out too late, we
would not be able to vote on any items but could do straw
polls. The process that we will follow, as adopted at our
last meeting, is there has been insufficient notification of
a vote we will take a straw poll. If prior to the next
meeting someone objects, then the issue will be reopened.
Otherwise, the straw poll will become an official vote
at the next meeting. Chas also noted that he will be trying
to publish the minutes in plenty of time for the next meeting
and the minutes will include a list of items that have complete
proposals. This will allow us to vote on them at the next
meeting.
- Item 162: Wrong outline of task func in VPI Instance diagram
Chas noted that "task func" should also be italicized. JimV
agreed. Straw Poll: Accepted as amended. (No objections)
- Item 124: Inconsistent VPI names: var(iable) drivers and loads
Discussed. Straw Poll: Accepted as proposed (No objections)
- Item 123: Clarify meaning of "member typespec" in VPI
Discussed. Joao was concerned that this proposal may conflict
with potential solutions for item #80. Francoise and JimV
were not sure about that. During the course of discussion, JimV
noticed several problems with his proposal. JimV took an action
to fix the problems and submit a new proposal.
- Item 122: Eliminate property vpiTypedefType as redundant
Discussed. Joao was concerned this may conflict with potential
solutions for item #80. Francoise and JimV took an action to
work on #122 and #80 together to come up with a cohesive solution
to both issues.
5. Old Business
- Chas to see if everyone can be set to developer for accessing
the database.
Chas now has an account setup, but has not had a chance to
play with it much yet.
- Everyone to send the set of items to which they have already
made proposals.
Chas received lists from Francoise, JimV, Ralph and Doug.
Meeting ended at 1:05pm (EDT)
