Reviewed Patent information. - Chas reviewed the patent information. 2. Reviewed minutes of the 08/16/2006 Meeting. During our compatibility discussion, issues with the vpiVarSelect object were discussed. - Ralph/JimV. ACCEPTED (unanimous) as modified. 3. Liaisons - No one reported on other meetings 4. New business - vpiTagged Abi proposed that we should make vpiTagged a property of variables as well. Seems inconsistent. Straw poll on what should we do? No one objects. Abi will work on a formal proposal. - Item 1570 Clarify legality of 'integer' and 'time' as DPI parameter types Andrzej thinks the statement could be made more general. Ralph will rephrase for next time. JimV suggested we add it to the table. Ralph did not think it would fit there. Ralph asked that JimV point out any other references that would be appropriate. - Face to Face meeting? Chas proposed Oct 16th and 17th in Chelmsford, MA. Abi asked how such a meeting would effect voting rights. Chas took an action to clarify voting rights with P1800. Then deprecated it for other cases. What about making them both the same type, then having a property that says it is variable? Chuck was trying to remove the ambiguity. A var select represents something that migrates. A reg doesn't. What about a class variable to class object? This has a lifetime. Francoise thinks it depends on how we want to model class objects. Should we try to capture local vs more global information? Global information can be found by parent transitions. Differentiating between the two can be a good way to look at it. Chas thinks that we should try to right up this concept in such a way that we can use it to guide our decision making process. Chuck will take a crack at putting together such a guiding principle. We should consider looking at some other rules of thumb. How closely does our data model match the concepts that the HDL uses? Should try to move closer when possible. Sometimes we would want to have "Cheats" or "Shortcuts" that don't follow guiding principles, but make application developers lives easier. Chas thinks it would be good if we defined terminology or language. Some of this is still tribal knowledge. JimV/Francoise. Meeting ended at 1:05pm. 5. Reviewed of items with proposals. 6.
