1.  Reviewed Patent information

   - Chas reviewed the patent information which can be
     found at http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.ppt


2.  Reviewed minutes for 08/22/2007

   - Ralph/Chuck.  ACCEPTED (unanimous).


3.  Liaisons

   - Jim noted that the champions bounced back 1751 and 1741.
     Should coordinate with the SV-BC on whether or not these
     are scopes.
   - Francoise commented that the champions are voting via email
     on some issues.
   - No other meetings to report on.


4.  New business

   - Chas noted that the schedule is getting pretty tight.  He asked
     that everyone look at the new mantis items to see if they should
     be resolved for this release of the spec, or intentionally not
     addressed, or low hanging fruit...etc.  Please categorize.

   - Chas noted that there were 21 new items related to the read API.
     Every time he tried to solve any of them, he ended up wanting to
     rewrite the entire section.  Abi would consider moving to deprecate
     the read API.  She will consider filing a Mantis item on it.


5.  Reviewed items with proposals

   - Item 1865 Definition of `s_vpi_vecval' in `svdpi.h' and `vpi_user.h'
     Jim doesn't recall having signing up to try this out.  Maybe we should
     ask Doug to try it.  Abi thinks it depends on how strict people compile
     things.  Chas is pretty sure that there will be new warnings.
     Ghassan would like to postpone till next time.  Ask Michael to comment
     on it.

   - Item 1946 Clarify vpiSize for string vars and other SystemVerilog variable types
     Abi prefers chars than bits.  Jim doesn't care which way it goes.  Francoise
     commented that you cannot assign a string to a packed array.  JimV moves to
     accept the second proposal.  Chuck seconds.  PASSED (unanimous)

   - Item 1952 "Null argument" to mean "omitted argument" may be confusing
     Several friendly amendments.  Change 'unspecified' to 'empty'.  Clarify xref.
     Add example.  Jim will do so and we can vote on it next time.

   - Item 1726 Clarify meaning of vpiConstantSelect
     JimV/Chuck.  PASSED (unanimous)

   - Item 1837 Wrong outline for net in VPI generate diagram
     Friendly amendment to change "Reg" to "Logic Var".
     Francoise/Chuck.  PASSED (unanimous) Chas to update proposal.

   - Item 1970 What is vpiIndexTypespec for an array with a wildcard index type?
     Friendly amendment to change "typepecs" to "typespecs".  Friendly amendment
     to fix "real typepsec" to "real typespec".  Friendly amendment to make the
     xref clear.  Chuck/JimV.  PASSED (unanimous) JimV to update proposal.


Motion to adjourn JimV/Chuck. Meeting adjourned at 1:00pm.

8.  Action items

   - Francoise and Bassam to continue work on assignment patterns.
   - Francoise to champion adding support for typed parameters to the
     typespec diagrams.
   - Abi to champion adding support for parameterized classes.
   - Abi/JimV to champion improving the ability to compare objects.
   - Steve to send out exact text on referring to a prior version.
   - Chas to take a look for questions from Editor in these sections
     and either answer them himself or parcel them out to other
     committee members as appropriate.
   - JimV to test that the fix for Item 1865 will not cause compilation warnings.
   - Francoise and Bassam to figure out what should happen when you get the
     size of a string constant.
   - Bassam to get reasoning behind changes in Item 1361.
   - Chas, JimV, Chuck, and Ralph to update their already passed proposals to
     reference Draft 3A.
   - Michael to comment on the user impact to the change in proposal for Item 1865.
   - JimV to update proposal for Item 1952.
   - Chas to update proposal for Item 1837.


9.  Items for consideration at the next meeting (they already have proposals)

   - Item 1865 Definition of `s_vpi_vecval' in `svdpi.h' and `vpi_user.h'
   - Item 1952 "Null argument" to mean "omitted argument" may be confusing
   - Item 1696 What is vpiRange for a dynamic array, assoc. array, queue?
   - Item 1599 The assertion API and VPI sections need changes as per mantis #805
   - Item 1361 need a way to control execution of action blocks
   - Item 2009 HDL example shown in detail 3 section 36.14 (Reference objects) has errors.
