Foundation and Alliance Series Software version 1.4 now shipping

Xilinx is now shipping its latest Software Solutions, Foundation Series Express 1.4 and Alliance Series 1.4, which are based on M1 Technology.

Xilinx Foundation Series Express (1.4), available for PCs running Windows '95 and Windows NT, integrates Xilinx's Design Implementation Tools with the very popular Foundation Design Entry Tools. The Foundation Standard package (US-FND-EXP-PC) includes these well integrated and easy to use design entry tools:

Schematic Entry
HDL Text Entry - includes ABEL Synthesis and Language Assistance
Graphical State Editor - creates state diagrams and compiles them into HDL code
Simulation and Graphical Waveform Editor - functional and timing driven
VHDL and Verilog Synthesis - Now available with Foundation Series Express 1.4

Foundation Series Express 1.4 has several improvements over Foundation Series 1.3

Xilinx Alliance Series software (1.4), available for both workstations and PCs, integrates Xilinx's Design Implementation Tools with all libraries and interfaces for Synopsys, Viewlogic, Mentor, and Cadence. Other design entry tool vendors, such as OrCAD, Synplicity, Synario provide Xilinx libraries and interfaces in their own software packages.

If you are a university instructor, you have received a commercial Foundation Series Express 1.4 upgrade, and you want to take advantage of the new VHDL and Verilog synthesis features, then then you need to get a new "license.dat" file for your PC(s). Please follow these steps:

Step 1) Fill in the "license.dat" file request form and Xilinx customer service will provide you with your new "license.dat" file within 2 business days.

Step 2) Read over the important Foundation Express usage information.

Step 3) If you do not receive a response within 2 business days, you can contact a Xilinx customer service representative directly.

This table provides a basic comparison of XACTstep^TM v5.2 / 6.0 Software versus Xilinx M1-based Implementation Software. Version 1.3 Implementation Software is common to both the Xilinx Alliance Series and the Xilinx Foundation Series.

         qualified for those OS's.

         M1 Technology completely integrates the XC9500 family.
***   XC3x00A and XC5000 family support will be included in the 1.4 release sometime near
         the end of 1997.
         Note that the older XC4000 and XC4000A devices are NOT be supported with M1.
**** The default version 1.3 license type for the PC is Node Locked. Inform Xilinx customer
         service or your Xilinx representative if you need floating licenses on your TCP compliant
         PC network.
