Functions
Depending on the underlying design the System Glue Logic will contain many
common functions which we excel at. These functions include memory
control, DMA control, data buffering, and a control port interface which
may be a discrete parallel port design, or it may be an interface to a
USB ASSP or even a PCI
Core.
Advantages
Xilinx programmable logic excels at all these functions and offers very
low cost devices which can do them well. In particular, the SpartanXL
and XC9500XL devices offer the advantages
of high performance combined with low cost and support such features as
the ability to integrate a 33 MHz, 32-bit PCI
solution into a SpartanXL device.
Xilinx also offers the advantage of configuring the logic over the computer
interface which has all the benefits of field upgradability and feature
enhancement without touching the hardware itself. |
