Chuck,

While looking through my allocated pre-2002 IRs, 1081 seemed familiar. I
dredged my archives, and found the attached, including analyses and
resolutions for several IRs. I believe we resolved these during the revision
process leading to VHDL-2002. See the attached record of votes.

1040: Currently assigned to Ajay. The attached analysis is that the problem
is too difficult to solve without significant language change. Vote was to
approve. The issue has since been addressed in P1076-2006/D3.0, in which we
allow unconstrained subelement types, subelement constraints, and subelement
resolution.

1081: Assigned to me. The attached analysis answers the submitter's
question, and recommends no language change. Vote was to approve.

1086: Assigned to Larry. The attached analysis recommends change (made in
1076-2002). Vote was to approve.

1117: Not yet assigned. The attached analysis resolves the submitter's
question, and recommends a note be added to the LRM. Vote was to approve,
but with further review needed. The note was not added in 1076-2002. At the
time of consideration, this issue became quite contentious. I have attached
a request for comment posted to comp.lang.vhdl, and a summary of email
exchanges over the issue. We may want to review the issue to see if a
language change should be recommended.

1124: Not yet assigned. The attached analysis answers the submitter's
question, and recommends no language change. Vote was to approve.

Here's my review of my other allocated pre-2002 IRs.

IR1079: Closed - addressed in 1076-2002.

IR1082: Open issue.

Cheers,

PA
