1. Reviewed Patent information.
- Charles Dawson read the patent information.
2. Reviewed minutes of the 01/05/2005 Meeting.
- Ghassan reported that he was at the meeting. Chas has
updated the attendance to reflect this.
- Ralph/Stu. Accepted.
3. Liaisons
- No other meetings to report on.
4. New business
- Item 56
This describes things that are not in 1364, but there is no place in the
P1800. Chas suggested we add a section 31 titled "Extensions to VPI
routines". Stu/Steve move to reconsider. ACCEPTED.
Steve moves that we resolve item 56 with the existing proposal and add
a bugnote directing the editor to place the new text as notes in P1800
section 31.2. The deletion should be applied as specified in P1364
section 27.10. Stu seconds. PASSED (unanimous).
- Item 53
Steve/Stu motion to reconsider. ACCEPTED.
Stu moves that we make friendly amendment that puts a dotted enclosure
around the set of objects on the left hand side of the diagram on page 3
of the proposal. This class shall be named "instance item". The package
reference on page 3 should be a made definition.
Ralph seconds. PASSED (unanimous).
- Item 40
This has some minor issues that the editor noted. Chas added bugnotes
to address them. No one objected to the handling of this via bugnotes.
- Latest header files
Stu asked if anyone had an sv_vpi_user.h file that had incorporated all of
the errata changes. Nobody did. Stu will make the edits there by hand and
we will test after the fact.
- Item 330
Doug/Michael motion to reconsider. ACCEPTED.
Doug/Michael move to close Item 330 as a duplicate of Item 050.
PASSED (unanimous).
- Item 292
JimV/Steve move to reconsider. ACCEPTED.
Steve/JimV move to close as not a bug. Previously dealt with in 1364 PTF.
PASSED (unanimous)
- Determining the urgency of new items.
Lengthy discussion on how to resolve issues that are not going to make the
first ballot draft. The process is as follows:
- We continue to work on new issues as the come in.
- If someone feels the new issue(s) are important enough that they should
be resolved in this version of the specification, they should make note
of the issue when balloting.
- The P1800 committee is obligated to respond to all of the comments that
are submitted as part of the balloting process. Their response may be
that the committee has decided not to address the issue(s) in this version,
or they may do a re-circulation with the issue(s) addressed.
- Reviewing database
Chas noted that we will again have a tight schedule when the draft comes
out later this week. Please try to review the passed items to make sure
they were correctly incorporated.
Chas to send out instructions and schedule.
5. Reviewed of items with proposals.
- Item 349
Doug/JimV. PASSED (unanimous)
- Item 350
Proposal is in SV-350-2.htm.
Doug/Ralph. PASSED (unanimous)
6. Old Business
Meeting ended at 1:05PM EST.
7. Action items
SV-CC action items:
- Francoise to ask Peter Ashenden what was done to improve
printing from Rational Rose.
- Francoise to inquire about the feasibility of third parties
shipping the UML for the diagrams.
- Sachi to drive finding a better solution for 052.
Sachi has added a new proposal.
- JimV to enter a new SV-CC item for adding tables for return values of
the properties.
- Stu to file new SV-CC item that will address bigger issue he pointed
out in Item 321.
- Doug to add an SV-CC item for removing the prototype cleanup from the
DPI include file.
DONE
- Doug to add an SV-CC item for adding "const" to prototypes in the
DPI include file where appropriate.
DONE
- Chas to send out instructions and schedule for reviewing passed Items
that have been incorporated into the latest draft.
PTF action items:
- Steve to compare BNF with the access available
for attributes to see if they match
- Stu to enter new PTF item for save/restart/reset issue.
- Francoise to lookup wording for PTF 524 in VHPI.
- Francoise will open a new PTF issue to look for situations like 25.6.15,
where multiple methods are used access the same object enclosure
- Chas to reword proposal for PTF 525.
- Draft a straw man proposal using a clean slate with no concern for
existing PLI/VPI on the best way to represent all Verilog and
SystemVerilog kinds and types. This straw man will then be used as a
basis for discussing backward compatibility with the existing reg, net,
variables, functions, and parameter diagrams. It may be decided that
full backward compatibility is not possible, or is not the best approach
moving forward.
- Sachi will file a PTF item for the clarification of what can be done
at ROsync time and putting values in future times.
- Francoise to file a PTF item that asks to specify the order that iteration
occur in, when the order is important.
- Steve to add ETF item for Annex C to remove the Informative label, but
still allow the contents to be optional.
- Chas to update PTF database for the SV-CC Items to Shalom's satisfaction.
8. Items for consideration at the next meeting (they already have proposals):
- Item 052 vpiFuncType return values for systemVerilog datatypes
