Reviewed Patent information - Chas reviewed the patent information which can be found at http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.ppt 2. Reviewed minutes for 08/29/2007 - Chuck/Ralph. ACCEPTED (unanimous). 3. Liaisons - No other meetings to report on. 4. New business - Discuss schedule and outstanding Mantis items. Chuck noted that Item 1230 should be addressed. This has to do with packed arrays and he is willing to champion it. - Several inquiries on what to do with the ones which just need to be updated with feedback from the Champions. Some were unsure if they had the needed database permission to modify them appropriately. Chas asked that everyone send the Item numbers to him, and he will update them appropriately. - Item 1741 1800-2005 Section 27.50 Issues with foreach diagram Was rejected by the Champions because an unnamed block does not create a new scope unless there is a local variable declared within it. JimV has added new proposals. He thinks that he and the SV-BC are reaching consensus. He would like to delay a vote until next time in case the SV-BC has more feedback. Michael suggests that the title of this Mantis item be updated to reflect the current issue. Ralph asked if there was a rigorous definition of a scope anywhere within the documentation? Michael thinks there are two ways to create a scope: name it, or declare a variable. - Item 1648 Default reset for assertions JimV has looked at it some. JimV added a question to this Mantis Item. It is still in feedback with comments from the Champions committee. SV-AC is looking for feedback on the VPI changes. What is the meaning of a distribution here? If this can be a distribution, and if so do we have to account for that in the object model? If it can, what does it mean? If it can be extended to cover groups it might make sense. Chas to ask John Havlicek these questions. - Item 1599 The assertion API and VPI sections need changes as per mantis #805 Chas can put it on the list of Items with proposals for future consideration. No one here was willing to Champion it within the SV-CC - no expertise. Chas to ask John to attend our next meeting so it can be discussed. - Deprecating the Read API Michael thinks if we cannot extend the VCD file, then we would be in trouble if we deprecated the Read API. Michael thinks VCD would be easier path to implementation for most people. JimV thought that the dynamic objects would be the key new thing to worry about. Michael wants the new static objects at the minimum. Francoise to ask the SV-BC if they will be updating the VCD file for this revision. Chas will put in a Mantis item and a proposal. We should make this Item related to the update the VCD file one. 5. Reviewed items with proposals - Item 1865 Definition of `s_vpi_vecval' in `svdpi.h' and `vpi_user.h' You currently have a problem with with inclusion order. Better to fix now than to delay. Abi moves that we accept SV-186501.htm proposal. Ralph seconds. PASSED (unanimous) - Item 1952 "Null argument" to mean "omitted argument" may be confusing Tabled until JimV has a chance to update the proposal with the friendly amendments - Item 1696 What is vpiRange for a dynamic array, assoc. array, queue? This deals with several issues with ranges, including when the ranges are empty for dynamic arrays. Clarifies for mixed packed and unpacked ranges. Friendly amendment to NOT delete the number 4 at the beginning of the note in section 36.16. Michael thinks that Shalom probably would be interested in this proposal. Chuck/JimV. PASSED (unanimous) JimV to update proposal. 6. Reviewed SV-CC items with proposals (Straw poll only) - Item 1932 Changed the sample variable type from reg to logic. Fixed the section number. JimV moves that we take a straw poll on this. Chuck seconds. PASSED (unanimous) - Item 1942 Abi moves that we take a straw poll. Chuck seconds. PASSED (unanimous) - Item 1367 JimV/Abi. PASSED (unanimous) Motion to adjourn. Chuck/Abi. Meeting adjourned at 1:01pm. 7. Old Business 8. Action items - Francoise and Bassam to continue work on assignment patterns. - Francoise to champion adding support for typed parameters to the typespec diagrams. - Abi to champion adding support for parameterized classes. - Abi/JimV to champion improving the ability to compare objects. - Steve to send out exact text on referring to a prior version. - Chas to take a look for questions from Editor in these sections and either answer them himself or parcel them out to other committee members as appropriate. - JimV to test that the fix for Item 1865 will not cause compilation warnings. - Francoise and Bassam to figure out what should happen when you get the size of a string constant. - Bassam to get reasoning behind changes in Item 1361. - Chas, JimV, Chuck, and Ralph to update their already passed proposals to reference Draft 3A. - Michael to comment on the user impact to the change in proposal for Item 1865. - JimV to update proposal for Item 1952. - Chas to update proposal for Item 1837. - JimV to update proposal for Item 1696. - Chas to add Mantis Item for deprecating database read API. - Chas to ask John Havlicek questions about the SV-AC issues. 9.
