Reviewed Patent information - Chas reviewed the patent information which can be found at http://standards.ieee.org/board/pat/pat-slideset.ppt 2. Reviewed minutes for 09/12/2007 - Ralph/Chuck. ACCEPTED (unanimous). 3. Liaisons - Francoise reported on the face to face with BC and EC on Monday. Discussed name lookup and fixing the LRM to accurately reflect name resolution. Pack Refs, $unit, ...etc. are broken. There may be an enhancement for typed parameters. Will probably take a month to resolve, and then we will need to update the VPI model for this. Francoise noted that we don't have a decent model for what exists already. - Chas invited John Havlicek to the meeting, and he said he would join. - No other meetings to report on. 4. New business - Discuss schedule and outstanding Mantis items. Jim thinks we need to fix cross specialization. Jim hopes to post a proposal on this in the next week or so. In general, we may need some significant changes for this. Chas pointed out the typed parameter issue. Abi pointed out that dynamic handle lifetime/validity has not really been resolved yet. We've discussed, and come up with some ideas but haven't turned them into proposals. Jim pointed out that callbacks haven't been handled yet. Unpacked structs callbacks. Callbacks for dynamic objects. Existing callbacks and maybe we need some new ones (like one that tells the application that a dynamic object is going away). Chas suggested we should do something about put value with delay on dynamic objects. Can VPI create dynamic objects? No, but we should say that. Expressions that have side effects - can we do things like get the size? Should that be allowed? Chas polled people, and we had consensus that these would not all be resolved within our alloted timeslot. Chas to report back to the P1800 committee. - Discuss deprecating the Read API, Item 2054 Jim does not think that anyone has stepped up to resolve it. Several people expressed a desire to have the API, but no one to clean it up. Bassam thinks that it was reviewed. Bassam thinks it needs to be better incorporated into the rest of the VPI, like what is happening with assertions. Chas pointed out that no one but him actually reviewed it last time, so the fact that it was part of the approved standard holds no weight with him. Abi agreed with that. Chas has attempted to fix several of the open Items in the past and each time gave up with the feeling that the chapter needed to be completely rewritten. Francoise pointed out that it is less important than the rest of the LRM. No one has implemented it yet. Bassam and Ghassan to prioritize the current set of open items. - Abi's question about the vpiStrength0 and vpiStrength1 properties Nets have strength properties and Abi wanted to know if it was the part of the cont assign, duplicating the info from the cont assign page. Strength is interesting for supply and tran nets. Abi will add a Mantis Item requesting clarification. Chas will see if he can figure out how it got there in the first place. - Item 1648 Jim ask a question on this, and Bassam thinks the answer is yes. He had a proposal to fix it at some point, but it got lost. Bassam will fix this in the proposal and add a fix to 36.43 (in draft 3a). Should point to an expr and a distribution. Fix all disable distributions in VPI diagrams. Bassam will ask Jim's question in the SV-AC. Motion to adjourn. Francoise/Abi. Meeting adjourned at 1:05pm. 5. Reviewed items with proposals 6. Reviewed SV-CC items with proposals (Straw poll only) 7. Old Business 8. Items for consideration at the next meeting (they already have proposals) - Item 1361 need a way to control execution of action blocks - Item 2009 HDL example shown in detail 3 section 36.14 (Reference objects) has errors. - Item 1751 Clarify vpiParent for part selects - Item 1741 1800-2005 Section 27.50 Issues with foreach diagram - Item 2054 Draft 3A, Section 40 - Deprecate Data Read API - Item 1952 "Null Argument" to mean "omitted Argument" may be confusing 10.
