October 19, 2000 Dear Valued Xilinx Customer, In August 1999 Xilinx acquired the CoolRunner® CPLD product families from Philips Semiconductor. At that time Xilinx signed agreements with the wafer foundries supporting the older XPLA products. Unfortunately we have been unable to extend these agreements. This notification is to inform you that Xilinx will obsolete selected older XPLA product families. We understand the difficulties this may cause with your designs, and to accommodate this change as best as possible, we will provide our customers the ability to place last time buys through April 2001 and final shipments through December 2001. This discontinuance notification is limited to the following devices: XCR3xxx/5xxx (3.3V & 5V XPLA Original) XCR3xxxA/3xxxC/5xxxC (3.3V & 5V XPLA Enhanced) XCR3320/3960 (3.3V XPLA2) XCR22V10/22LV10 We would like to assure you that Xilinx has extremely strong partnerships in place with our key, strategic foundries. This strong alliance with our strategic suppliers provides the assurances you need on all other Xilinx products, including the new XPLA3 CoolRunner CPLDs. We have put in place inventory of the older products, in addition to extensive support to convert your application to the latest product families.
