Hello SV-CC members,

We have communicated our vision to provide SystemVerilog the ability to
connect to C through a fast API. PLI has served Verilog in the past years,
but its implementation does not match today's modern languages
(SystemVerilog) and also does not match design complexity.

Direct-C offer the capability for Accellera to move in this direction and
help make SystemVerilog a powerful standard for many years to come. Direct-C
provides a good alternative, and if a certain company believes that its
capability require enhancement, then it is time for them to participate and
make it better. So far the only C interface that exist for Verilog and
commercially viable is Direct-C. the TCC , as an SystemVerilog Chairs
promotes donations that are based on strong commercial presence. Direct-C
has proven its usefulness as strong commercial product in use and providing
answers to users and EDA vendors requirement.

The momentum behind sv-CC is shown by the active participation of user
companies (like Motorola and Sun). These users are asking for C-interface
with SystemVerilog. Direct-C is the only answer that Accellera has today as
a working donation.. Voting no, means denying the users community, of what
they really want and it is forced upon them.

Best Regards

Vassilios
