Xilinx manufactures standard parts using well-established wafer fabrication technologies and established assembly processes. The use of proven standard processes has resulted in consistent and predictable product improvements. Enhancements made in earlier process generations are carried directly forward to current device offerings. In fact, over the last six years, Xilinx devices overall have seen a 40% per year improvement in speed, a 50% per year increase in density and a 30% per year decrease in silicon cost, with increased levels of reliability. Off-the-shelf Availability Xilinx parts are readily available directly from Xilinx and through distribution. When you design with our FPGAs and CPLDs there is no waiting for prototypes. |
Factory Tested Unlike custom ASICs, Xilinx devices are shipped fully tested. The exhaustive test programs we use are the same for all customers and all applications, resulting in products of much higher quality. Our "Six Sigma" quality program, is an integral part of the Xilinx corporate commitment to quality. We achieved "Six Sigma" levels in 1994, and we continue to maintain them. This performance contributed to the attainment of our IS09002 certification and transitional QML status for our San Jose facility, and ISO9002 certification for our Ireland facility. During this period, the reliability of our products has continued to improve, with FIT rates dropping from the 10-50 FIT range in 1994 to today's value of 5-10 FIT. Our "accept zero defects" lot sampling plans, extensive internal and subcontractor audits, the use of advanced Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods and Total Quality Management (TQM) operating principles are all focused at achieving total customer satisfaction. |
