What's New

There is a new HDL Behavioral Simulation Flow in the 2.1i release.

• Solution 6556 - V2.1i COREGEN, VHDL, VERILOG: New 2.1i HDL behavioral simulation flow for CORE Generator / COREGEN v2.1i does not generate .VHD and .V models for behavioral simulation (.VEO and .VHO templates are generated instead)

• Solution 6291 - Location of coregen.log has changed on PC platform

Setup

• Solution 6829 - V2.1i COREGEN:  How to get a copy of the 2.1i CORE Generator software
• Solution 5083 - V2.1i, V1.5 COREGEN: Coregen does not start up if another version of JDK is installed in the user's environment ("JAVA was not found " or "Unsatisfied link" errors)

General

Performance Issues

• Solution 6020 - CORE Generator startup may take some time the first time it is loaded
• Solution 6149 - V2.1i COREGEN: Coregen windows may not refresh or may simply hang on Windows NT if left running for extended periods of time
• Solution 6242 - 2.1i COREGEN may use CPU even when idle
• Solution 6865 - V2.1i COREGEN: Response to double clicks to invoke module customization GUIs may be erratic and/or delayed
• Solution 5899 - V2.1i COREGEN, SOLARIS 2.6: Project Choose Browser takes several minutes to browse to /home and other mount points on Solaris 2.6.
• Main CORE Generator GUI may go blank temporarily when moved.

Project Management

Advanced project management features are available in the 2.1i release, including support for project browsing, and access to a list of known projects.

• Solution 6867 - V2.1i COREGEN: The name of every CORE Generator project file MUST be "coregen.prj"
• Solution 5815 - V2.1i COREGEN: Coregen 2.1i displays all known projects for all users in the available projects listing in multi-user environment
• Solution 6547 - V2.1i COREGEN: COREGEN may lose all entries in list of known projects, except for the last project if multiple users run from the same installation

New Behavioral Simulation Flows

• Solution 6556 - V2.1i COREGEN, VHDL, VERILOG: New 2.1i HDL behavioral simulation flow for CORE Generator / COREGEN v2.1i does not generate .VHD and .V models for behavioral simulation (.VEO and .VHO templates are generated instead)

Verilog behavioral simulation flow

• Solution 6831 - V2.1i COREGEN USER GUIDE, VERILOG: "Error! Module name previously declared" / Verilog parent design example contains redundant module declaration

VHDL behavioral simulation flow

HP Platform Issues

• Solution 6559 - V2.1i COREGEN: "ERROR: Could not locate specified browser /usr/local/bin/acroread" / Cannot launch Web browser & Acroread from COREGEN on HP
• Solution 6116- V2.1i COREGEN, HP: NullPointerException thrown after error dialog pops up on HP only

Foundation

• The 2.1i CORE Generator is integrated with, and must be used with, the F2.1i Foundation release, which will be available August 1999.

Mentor

• The 2.1i CORE Generator is now integrated with Design Architect.

Viewlogic

• Solution 6611 - V2.1i COREGEN, VIEWLOGIC, POWERVIEW v6.1, VLLINK, SOLARIS, HP: FUSION v1.4 or later must be installed to support COREGEN Viewlogic interface on workstations / "ERROR: Viewlogic symbol generation failed.", "WARNING: Core xxx did not generate product ViewSym"
